This Privacy Policy explains how Wonder Studio collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you visit our website, request a free homepage preview, buy a website plan or content service, or contact us. We follow the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

01Who we are

Wonder Studio (registered name: WONDER STUDIO, enterprise number 2026/619329/07) builds websites and creates video, image and ad content for businesses. We are the “responsible party” for your personal information.

  • Information officer: Robin Elliott
  • Email: info@wonderstudio.co.za
  • Phone / WhatsApp: 078 316 3270
  • Address: Northgate, Randburg, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa

02What information we collect

  • Contact details: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number and business name.
  • Order and account details: the plan or service you order, your order history, account login details and billing name.
  • Payment information: card payments are handled by our payment provider, PayFast. We do not see or store your full card number.
  • Business and project information: the answers you give in our website questionnaire or free preview form, such as what your business does, your services, social media links, style preferences, business address and the content you send us (text, photos, logos and videos).
  • Domain registration details: the name, contact details and address needed to register your .co.za domain in your name.
  • Messages: emails, WhatsApp messages and other communication with us.
  • Website usage information: information collected through cookies and similar technologies, such as pages visited, device and browser type, and actions like adding a plan to your cart (see section 8).

03How we collect it

  • Directly from you, when you fill in a form, check out, create an account or contact us.
  • Automatically, when you use our website (through cookies and similar tools).
  • From social media lead forms or ads you respond to.

When you start filling in our checkout or free preview form, your email address and the details you’ve typed so far may be saved before you submit, so we can remind you to finish. We only use this to send you a single reminder about the form you started, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

04Why we use your information

  • To provide what you ordered: designing, building, hosting and maintaining your website, registering your domain, and creating content.
  • To process payments and manage your subscription, including renewals, failed payments and cancellations.
  • To create and manage your customer account.
  • To communicate with you about your order, your free preview, your questionnaire and your plan.
  • To send reminders about an order or form you started but didn’t finish, and follow-ups about a preview we sent you.
  • To send occasional marketing, where you have agreed or where the law allows. You can opt out at any time.
  • To improve our website and advertising, and to keep our website secure.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We process your information because it is needed to carry out our agreement with you, because you have given consent, because we have a legitimate interest (such as following up on a request you made or keeping our website secure), or because the law requires it.

06Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We only share it where needed, with service providers who help us run our business, such as:

  • PayFast, to process card payments and recurring billing
  • Our website hosting and email providers
  • The .co.za domain registry and domain registrars, to register your domain in your name
  • Advertising and analytics platforms such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), to measure and improve our ads
  • WhatsApp, when we communicate with you there
  • Professional advisers or authorities, where the law requires it

These providers may only use your information to provide their services to us.

07Information outside South Africa

Some of our providers (such as Meta and some email or hosting services) may store or process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we rely on providers that offer an adequate level of protection, as POPIA requires.

08Cookies and tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep it working (for example your cart and account login), to remember what you entered in forms, and to understand how visitors use our website. We use the Meta Pixel to measure the results of our Facebook and Instagram ads, for example when someone views a page, adds a plan to their cart or checks out.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the website, such as the cart and checkout, may not work properly without them.

09Marketing emails and reminders

Order, payment and account emails are part of the service and are sent whenever needed. Reminder, follow-up and marketing emails include an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to stop at any time by emailing info@wonderstudio.co.za.

10How long we keep your information

  • Customer, order and billing records: as long as you are a customer, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting laws require (usually 5 years).
  • Free preview requests and unfinished forms: up to 12 months, unless you become a customer.
  • Website content you supplied: for as long as we host your website, and for a reasonable time after you cancel so we can provide a backup if needed.

When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

11How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including secure (HTTPS) connections, access controls, strong passwords, two-factor authentication where available, and trusted payment providers. No system is completely secure, but we will tell you and the Information Regulator if a security breach affects your personal information, as the law requires.

12Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy
  • Ask us to correct or update your information
  • Ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
  • Object to us using your information, including for direct marketing
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent

You can update most details yourself in your account, or email us at info@wonderstudio.co.za. We may need to confirm your identity first.

13Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator:

Our services are for adults and businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.
